Our Acupuncture Services In Annerley

As an acupuncturist in Annerley, we provide an array of holistic therapies and services that aim to provide a supportive and complementary level of care using an integrative approach to traditional Chinese medicine. Our treatment options can assist in helping to relieve a variety of conditions and body complaints.

Acupuncture Massage Annerley

Acupuncture is one of the four main branches of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) that involves the use of thin needles which are expertly inserted into specific points of the body. These points are chosen based on the ailment or discomfort which the individual is facing. Once the needle is inserted, it can help to improve the flow of energy – or Qi – through the body.

At our acupuncture massage in Annerley, we can help assist in the treatment of (McDonald & Janz, 2017):

  • General Women’s Health

  • Aches and pains

  • Sports injuries

  • Weight loss

  • Anxiety

  • Chronic fatigue

  • Gut health

  • Chemotherapy induced nausea and vomiting

  • Chronic headaches and migraines

  • Allergic Rhinitis

Tui na Massage Therapy

Tui na – pronounced twee-nah – is another branch of TCM.

Tui na is a form of massage that helps to stimulate the flow of Qi to promote balance and harmony within the body. Using many of the same principles of acupuncture, the focus of Tui na is to work along channels of the body using pressure points, stretches, and joint rotations to balance Qi (Chengnan, 2000).

While Western medicine is focused on muscles, bones and joints without regard for the flow of Qi, Tui na aims to help relieve blockages stored within the body as emotions are believed to block the flow of Qi if it is unregulated and unresolved. Tui na therefore can help with musculoskeletal ailments, gut imbalances, womb support, emotional regulation, relaxation and stress (Chengnan, 2000).

Cupping Therapy

As an experienced acupuncturist in Annerley, we undertake the traditional method of ‘fire cupping’ which is the use of specialised glass cups that are heated with fire that create the ideal suction for this form of therapy.

Cupping is an ancient form of Chinese therapy that is used to aid in  (Zhou, P. et al., 2019):

  • The relief of acute, chronic and general muscular pain

  • Improving the flow of Qi, blood and lymph circulation

  • Reducing painful trigger points

  • The promotion of mobility and range of motion

  • The reduction of toxins

Cupping can also be used as a diagnostic method in Chinese Medicine. After cups have been applied, cupping marks may appear which can range from deep purple to bright red. The colour of the cupping marks can bring awareness to the level of stagnation that is occurring within the body. The amount of time it takes for the discolouration to disappear can give an indicator of circulatory considerations. Sometimes clear liquid can come through the pores at the site of cupping, which can indicate internal dampness  (Zhou, P. et al., 2019).
