Acupuncture Massage West End, Brisbane

There are four main branches of TCM, one of which is Acupuncture. Acupuncture is a form of therapy that uses thin needles that are expertly inserted into specific points of the body. These points are chosen by an accredited acupuncturist to specifically combat an ailment or discomfort that a person is suffering from. The principle of acupuncture is that once the needle has been inserted, it will begin to enhance the flow of energy – or Qi –through the body.

At our acupuncture massage in Mt Ommaney, our needling can help assist with (McDonald & Janz, 2017):

  • Women’s Health

  • Aches and pains

  • Sports injuries

  • Weight loss

  • Anxiety

  • Chronic fatigue

  • Gut health

  • Chemotherapy induced nausea and vomiting

  • Chronic headaches and migraines

  • Allergic Rhinitis

Cupping Therapy

As an experienced acupuncturist in West End, we carry out one of the more traditional methods of cupping which uses glass cups that are heated with fire, creating a natural suction on the skin.

Cupping has fast become a popular form of treatment that can be used to assist with:

  • Improving the body’s blood and lymph circulation as well as the flow of Qi

  • Relieving acute, chronic and general muscular aches and pain

  • Loosening sore trigger points

  • Enhancing joint mobility and range of motion

  • Lowering toxins within the body

Another unique attribute of cupping is its ability to act as a diagnostic method for some conditions. At the end of a cupping session, marks left by each of the cups may immediately appear which can contrast in colour - from deep purple to bright red. The colours of these cup marks give acupuncturists a level of awareness as to the stagnation that is occurring within the body and issues that may be present.

The amount of time taken for the discolouration to fade away can also act as an indicator of how well Qi is flowing through the body, as well as the health of blood and lymph circulation.

Tui na Massage Therapy

Tui na – pronounced twee-nah – is another branch of TCM and one of our favourite forms of

acupuncture massage in West End.

Being an ancient style of massage, Tui na assists in stimulating the flow of Qi to promote harmony within the body and enhance the internal balance. Undertaking similar principles to that of acupuncture, the main goal of Tui na is to work along channels of the body using pressure points, stretches and joint rotations to promote the body’s flow of energy and general circulation (Chengnan, 2000).

Tui na can also assist in helping to relieve common musculoskeletal conditions, assist in enhancing womb support, help correct gut imbalances and support stress relief efforts (Chengnan, 2000). Tui na can also help in promoting emotional regulation and overall relaxation (Chengnan, 2000).
